Design philosophy ...

Describing the style of my own work is not easy, uncluttered and contemporary might do. Good proportions, good planting and good materials are of course very important - essential in fact - but whatever gardens I make have to be suitable for those who are going to use them .... and not just to look at but relatively easy to make and maintain as well.

Whether detailing a flight of steps, a piece of furniture or placing a single plant in the right place; master planning a country garden or the broad sweep of a landscape - I love the challenge that each project brings.

In particular, I enjoy the teamwork involved - all the different people and skills that are needed to make a garden and then see it flourish. With over 20 years experience, one of my strengths I believe, is my ability to bring together - and work as part of - a team of gardeners, craftsmen and other designers - not to mention my clients whose input is crucial.
